The MegaBonus this summer is quite different from previous promotions. Most often in the past, MegaBonuses have required reaching a certain number of nights to gain a specific number of points, sometimes with more points available beyond that. For example spring 2015, we saw this
To earn up to 45,000 points:
- Register by March 31, 2015
- Stay at participating properties between February 1 and April 30, 2015
- Earn 25,000 points after 15 paid nights plus 2,000 points after every additional night, up to 45,000 bonus points
Pretty typical of what was offered every spring and fall. The number of nights and points may have varied, but the MegaBonuses usually followed that formula. Sometimes there were free night certificates, earned after two stays, usually with a maximum of two certs.
Some folks really cleaned up earlier this year when double points were offered on the first three stays. Others, not so much. That brings us to the current "Infinite Points" MegaBonus. It's clearly not universally loved. I saw one comment that referred to it as "garbage." Some, like painedplatinum, have worked out a great plan to earn loads of bonus points by visiting as many different brands as possible. Details are in the discussion How's Summer '17 MegaBonus Looking? If you want to post details of how your points are working out so far, that's the thread on which to comment.
So with that bit of history and assorted rambling out of the way, here's what I want to know.
How do you like this current promotion when compared to previous MegaBonuses?
