We are visiting Los Cabos this month and will be staying at Westin Resort & Villa. I am at Gold Elite on Marriott rewards programs. Does Westin extend the same benefits like Marriott does for example Lounge access?
At most resorts an Elite status does not provide many benefits. Most resorts do not have Lounges nor do they offer free breakfasts as a supplement (check out T/C of Elite benefits). Even if you went down the beach from the Westin to the JW Marriott (gorgeous joint) you'd not get anything other than the "thank you for being a loyal Rewards member", but if you want some very very special treatment (it's kind of pricey yet could be worth it) check out the Griffin Club - Marriott Los Cabos . Not anything related to Elite benefits just an awesome spot to be for a trip to the San Jose del Cabo area.

Just in case you want to take a peek at our trip, this is the last Part of 4 and the other three are linked there as well.
I have stayed at several SPG Resort hotels and have always had my SPG status recognised, though, as iahflyr states, lounges are a rarity at such properties (but where they do have lounges, I have been given access). Nevertheless, to date I have been given the option of breakfast or the 500 points and been upgraded at these hotels. I have noticed that some resort hotels (e.g. in Dubai) state that they have either limited or no participation in the SPG programme - but this is clear at the time of booking. I have no experience of SPG resort hotels in Mexico or the USA (though I will be trying one in Florida in November), but I can see nothing in the SPG terms that signals any differences. Maybe a call to the hotel would clarify for you?
Correct me if I'm wrong but droidvideo must have enrolled in SPG, then link this SPG account to his Marriott Rewards account for him to be recognized or experience any elite perks at any Starwood properties? We can't assume he automatically knows this.
