Looking to go for a week next february. Been many times to Aruba so looking for some suggestions either with Marriott or Starwood
iahflyr - might know!
If you are considering other Islands, the Ritz-Carlton in Grand Cayman is top notch. Best Service I have ever had. They make my young son feel like a Rock Star and my wife a queen. And yes it is expensive in Cayman Islands ($1.25 US to $1 Cayman).
Yes looking for some place different than aruba . Thx for suggestion
I also very much enjoyed Grand Cayman. I didn't stay at a Marriott, my parents booked at the time. Whatever the hotel was, is not anymore... It was sold. But the beaches were wonderful!
Now I remember! It was the Hyatt! It closed after extensive damage from a hurricane. I remember the pedestrian bridge we had to walk across. It is now the Ritz.
I think as far as Marriott and SPG, for Grand Cayman there is:
Starwood Hotels & Resorts - Westin
Luxury Cayman Islands Resorts | The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman
Cayman Islands Resort - Hotel | Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort
I was disappointed when looking at Trinidad, Barbados Turks and Caicos... the hotels weren't very nice or in a good beach location. At least the Marriott options were not good.
rlswider might be on to something with the Westin St. Maarten!
I think i may try the ritz . It looks fantastic but will require a lot of points but thats what they are there tor
I think a very good call!
I have enjoyed Puerto Rico many times & have stayed at Marriott & Stellaris Casino on Condado Beach. The Renaissance LaConcha is down the street & is swank. There's also a Ritz-Carlton near the airport, that's beachfront. If you like rum, you can tour Casa Bacardi, and the island also has a tropical rainforest, El Yunque, for hiking lush trails with waterfalls. You can also walk the streets of Old Town San Juan from the colonial era, with a couple of forts & quaint shops & restaurants. You could also take day trips to Vieques or Culebra islands!
The Marriott Vacation Club in St. Kitts is very nice. We were just there in November 2016 after Thanksgiving and it was the perfect time of year. The service is great, very helpful and friendly. The condos are spacious and comfortable and they have lots of daily activities; we enjoyed the daily poolside Bingo games. They also have hotel rooms if you are not a vacation club member and/or do not want to rent a condo. It is walking distance to a grocery store and several nice restaurants down the road, unless you choose to never leave, which is totally possible and enjoyable.
My choice would be Luxury Resorts in BVI | Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina, Autograph Collection , but you don't go there for nice huge beaches as they have only two and very small. You go there to relax, rent a boat to visit some of the other islands of the BVI and to just enjoy.
The Cayman Islands Resort - Hotel | Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort does have an incredible beach and water, the resort has a small pool that quickly gets filled with screaming kids just being kids on a trip. Great sunsets and spots to dine within walking distance.
iahflyr Is the Scrub Island resort kid friendly? I was thinking about taking my family there for spring break. My kids are beach freaks so a small beach would be ok as long as it's got sand and water.
Kid friendly, hmm well there have been kids there when we've stayed there just not sure I'd call it overly kid friendly if you know what I mean. I would think kids would want to get out and wander a bit which there really isn't much on the island other than the resort and marina. There is a slide into the pool and the beach on the north side of the island has a pool, but the beach is pretty somewhat rocky in spots so water shoes would be a help.
It is a wonderful relaxing resort that probably older kids might find boring.
We love the JW Marriott in Cancun, Mexico. Superb service, fantastic food, and all of the beach & sun you could want! My teenage son swears by the French fries available poolside, but you will have to judge that for yourself. Thinking about our last stay while writing this post makes me want to book another trip there soon!
