Use this thread to keep current and up to date on web point promotions for any or all hotel brands.
Today 5/3/17 promotion on Twitter is:
Easy 250 points. Get some.
Dog bowl gifts from Home2Suites, pens from Residence Inns, IHG Staybridge suites and La Quinta promos, well you certainly do get around!
I run with 2 schemes, Marriott and IHG, I can keep top tier in both getting the benefits and top-tier extra points. I'm assuming you go after the promos reasoning that the points from promos beat out the points from top-tier. I'd think that can work out well if you've got a lot of stays.
And sorry, but what is an MVP? It's clearly well known as the initials are quoted on the ad, but not to those this side of the pond.
I work the points and tier levels together. But I chase points before tiers, as the tiers usually follow by chasing points. I'm currently these tiers of the hotels I stay with:
-LT Diamond (Hilton)
-Spire Elite (IHG)
-Elite (LQ)- has no soft landing (drop level) if tier not maintained
-Noboby at Marriott (don't earn points)
-Nobobdy at Wyndham
Note: The new Hyatt tier is/will be the hardest to maintain year over year.
MVP = Most Valuable Person
That is odd, I belong to all those programs, I am a long term member at Wyndham, I don't do that much anymore but I still have a ton of points and club points, Platinum at Fairmont, Just got busted to gold from Diamond at Hilton, IHG I only dabble with as in Canada they are pretty poor and need an upgrade, I have status with LQ as I travel with the dog to FLA on way and back twice a year, I am only gold at Hyatt. But I don't get invited to hotel openings at Residence Inns
rickyzackybobby Why are you promoting other hotel chains?
While I find it sort of strange to see a post about other Hotel Chains, I also find it useful. (explanation to come!!) I am a die-hard Marriott guy. I have been loyal to Marriott for many, many years and I can honestly say they have been very good to me. I have had so many wonderful vacations with Marriott over the years using my points that I can't begin to describe. Even after reaching LTP, I still consider it a challenge to get PP each year.
Now for my Two Cents!! In my travels, I often frequent small towns across the U.S. (sorry brightlybob about no trips abroad!!) that Marriott simply doesn't have a property. Therefore, I like hearing from rickyzackybobby about the different promotions going on. I'm to lazy to research them on my own. If there is promotion going on in another chain, I'm all ears. If I can't find a Marriott in a particular location, then I want to get the most "Bang For The Buck"!
Also, I tend to find that when one Hotel Chain starts a Promotion, then others will shortly follow!! ( Just like my beloved Delta vs. iahflyr beloved United......)
Thanks. That is the reaction I thought I'd get.
I thought the "Insiders" would want to know of opportunities to get easy points simply by tweeting, replying, or posting something on all the social media platforms regardless of hotel brand. Points are good. Free points are better. Besides, I've seen a bunch of cross-over hotel brand Insiders on this site. I say, celebrate diversity, don't stomp on it. However, as the new guy, I'll discontinue this thread as maybe I stepped on the some Marriott loyalty toes and forgot my audience. The ramifications of such of course will be I also won't post when Marriott is giving away 250 points for simply # something. Everyone not in the know loses. I gotto go polish my Marriott jackboots to fit in.
That's a very interesting way to look at it rickyzackybobby, "The ramifications of such of course will be I also won't post when Marriott is giving away 250 points for simply # something. Everyone not in the know loses." How kind of you to think that way.
