Where are were you, Tommo? ....................................Marriott West India Quay, London

And what's the lounge like?  Light and airy with full length windows looking over the dock and the wharf. Wonderful views of the London skyline. Well set out, nice seating, and it was never overcrowded in the 5 days I was there.

Hows the evening food? Two hot options, one carnivore, the other vegetarian. Such as mini cheeseburgers, mini pizzas, quiche etc.  All small size, but take as much as you want.  Also a good variety of salad, cold meats, cheeses and biscuits, fresh fruit etc. Dessert was small fancy cakes, mousse, tartlets etc.  Again, as many as you want.

Any free alcohol? Yes, between 5:30pm and 9:30pm.  Red, white and rose wine, bottles of Stella and Meantime. The lounge attendant keeps you topped up, but otherwise you can just help yourself. There is no limit on how much you can have.

Whats the hours 6:30am to 10:30pm. Evening food and alcohol 5:30-9:30. Coffee, tea, soft drinks, fresh fruit, cookies and savoury snacks available all day.  Cake served in the afternoon too.

And are they being meanies and closing the lounge at weekends? No.

How about Gold/Plat breakfast? In January they stopped doing the limited (but very good) breakfast in the lounge.  You can still go in for a coffee and pastry in the morning, but all breakfasts are now in the main restaurant.  The plus of this is that anyone entitled to lounge access can have whatever they want in the restaurant, and it is a very good breakfast with huge variety, and omelettes, eggs benedict etc cooked to order.  The hotel majors on a really good breakfast in the restaurant.

Upgrades? I booked on points, and paid a minimal upgrade cost to an executive floor room with “a view”. We were promptly upgraded to a Curve Suite, one of the top rooms at the hotel.  But we are regulars and are always treated very well there.

Comments...   This is a fabulous lounge with terrific views and a lovely atmosphere.  The attendants are without exception superb.  Shame they stopped doing the limited breakfast, but being able to have the full breakfast in the restaurant instead is a big plus.  I love this lounge and rate it Great
