I want to visit Yosemite National Park in the fall. Does anyone know if there is a Marriott hotel close by?
There is nothing close-by (Marriott or other) and the traffic can be very bad, so staying in the park is really your best bet. The Yosemite Valley Lodge is very nice, in the heart of everything and the least expensive (unless you want to camp or stay in a tent village which I do not recommend).
Have a great trip! Yosemite is fabulous!!!
aberwarn is correct. Yosemite (formerly The Ahwahnee) or Wawona Lodges, or Tenaya Lodge just outside the park (I believe Tenaya used to be a Marriott many moons ago) are good choices. The best times to visit the park to enjoy its majestic waterfalls (Yosemite, Bridalveil and Vernal Falls), are during the spring/summer months (though our summers here are generally quite hot, especially if you're not used to it). The falls generally slow to a trickle by autumn, however with the record rainfall that we've had this year, which has produced a terrific snowpack and supposedly has now ended a very long, very severe drought in California, this autumn could be different. But do come whenever you can. It's a beautiful place and it's calling your name! Since you would be so close, you must also visit Sequoia National Park and see the worlds largest and not oldest, but very old indeed, trees, the Giant Sequoias.
