I will finally make my Lifetime Platinum, half way through my up coming stay in J W Marco Island, does this get instantly credited to your account or does it arrived at the end of the stay?
Probably won't make it until the points post to your account. Usually 2 days after checkout.
End of stay....Once you checkout, and then a couple days later it will post.
Welcome to the club!
hallchr I agree end of stay, and its great that you made it to lifetime status Congratulations. But If you are already platinum for 2017 (your avatar indicates you are currently platinum) why do you care when it "arrives".
Actually in the past Lifetime Platinum Status only started when you failed to meet the normal annual criteria to be Platinum. Really the lifetime status means that you no longer have to stay X nights (75 currently in the case of platinum) in the prior year to have or maintain that status. Lifetime platinum is Platinum without the requirement to stay any nights to maintain it.
Its been a Long time coming, I dont think there are any additional benefits, someone mentioned a "Birthday Night" whatever that is, but I suppose it could mean I dont need to stay away from home so often!!,
yep really no additional current benefits. of course now you wont need to worry and getting to 75 nights. Also since additional nights wont matter I don't think you get a bday credit. At least I didn't once I made it as it doesn't give you anything additional
Jerry who knows in the future maybe a free night! JW in Hong Kong or even the new place in Fiji
We can hope..........
I too will cross into Lifetime Platinum status in about 5-6 weeks, to be chronicled later, of course. There has been ongoing debate as to if the "Lifetime" designation is a separate status, or as pointed out above, merely means you don't have to chase 75 nights a year anymore.
But should a Lifetime Platinum get higher recognition than "just" a regular platinum? Perhaps that will come down the pipeline, once SPG/Rewards merge in 2018 or 2019 ( Marriott is purposely vague about saying they won't combine before 2018). Waiver of Resort Fees would be amazing, since Platinum perks overlap many of the same things resort fees are meant to cover. Free parking? What else would be nice?
How about 1 free night to tag use whenever you want in say a level 8 hotel, its a no brainer if you get one free night you would happlily pay for another night so its win win
My main concern was that reaching lifetime and retiring in a year or two theres no pressure to do 15 weeks of the year on Vacation!
My personal LTP definitiion:
1. A collection of amazing experiences shared over the years with the ones I cherish the most, family!
2. Exceptional cultural exchanges with folks from all parts of the globe.
3, Lifetime connections with friends and co-workers.
