My wife, my kids and my mother-in-law are driving from Chicago to FL in June. Because of work, I will fly down and meet them. Can I redeem nights they can use on the trip to FL, even if I'm not staying with them?
24tex24 Sure you can ( i've done it many times ) but if your not going to stay with them the name of the people staying should be on reservation not yours and strictly by the rules they are not entitled to your status perks.
Do this all the time. Just make the reservation and even check in for them. Call the hotel and let them know others will be on the reservation. They will need to provide ID when they arrive.
I have done this dozens of times. I call the platinum line and make the reservations personally and make sure it is in my family members name. However, as a side note, I have seen it get messed up surprisingly frequently. Instead of my family members name, they put my name on the reservation. Which can cause some confusion during the check in process. You just have to watch out for this.
