I'm gold status, but haven't made platinum. In past years, Marriott carried over any nights that were more than 50 and less than 75. Has that stopped in 2017?
What you may need to consider is the number of nights that carried over from last year. If you had any, those need to be subtracted first. If you still had more than 50 but less than 75, those are the ones carried over.
Here's an example. Suppose you carried over 15 nights from 2015 which allowed you to end 2016 at 60 nights. It would seem you get to carry over 10 nights since you only needed 50 to remain Gold. Not so. You need to subtract the 15 nights carried over from 2015. 60 (total nights) - 50 (number needed to remain Gold) - 15 (2015 rollover nights) = -5. Anything zero or less means nothing carries over. Using the same example of 15 nights from 2015, you would actually need to end the year at 66 or more nights in order to have anything carry over.

As usual bejacob has it correct. Using my situation as an example, I carried in 25 nights to 2016. I finished the year with 101 nights between stays and my Marriott credit card usage. So subtracting the 25 nights carried in from 2015 from my 101, leaves 76 nights which is 1 over the 75 nights I needed to remain platinum. So I carried over just 1 night into this year. And this was credited to my account mid January.
No! I got mine early in January!
Since I already have 153 nights, I would assume they still carry over. :-)
