SPG impressions: Frankfurt Sheraton and Vertigo in Dijon, France

Discussion created by cyrill on Dec 16, 2016

1. Frankfurt Airport Sheraton. An old but still very much solid and clean property. Huge. A minor room upgrade for a (marriott matched) platinum  Lounge is decent by European standards and excellent by US standards.

2. Dijon France Vertigo. A horrible experience. No platinum upgrades. No breakfast included, no lounge. Our room was so tiny, there was no place to hang street clothes except on the hook by the bathroom, but then there was no room for the towel. No place to open suitcases. Very good bed, and very good shower stall, but that was it. Fancy electronics but the overall impressions was Bang and Olufsen pretense meets Ikea feel. Long waits to get into the only tiny and slow elevator that can't handle more than two people with luggage.

The staff reflects the visual pretense vs overall poor service quality mismatch. Except for one bell person, front desk staff was completely unhelpful and unresponsive.

We had a four night flight booked for points but decided to cancel the freebie and pay real cash in another hotel in Dijon. Maybe Marriott should buy the Chapeau Rouge downtown Dijon and divest off that useless Vertigo.
