My wife and I visited the Gorilla's in Uganda on 30 and 31 August 2016 in the videos below (on 31 August). It was unbelieveable how close we got to the gorilla's as shown in these videos. On 31 August, we visited the Mubare Mountain Gorilla Family where our group of eight were allowed 1 hour to visit with the Mubare Mountain Gorilla Family. Going into the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda was a very challenging and memorable experience.
There are three sub-species of gorilla in the world.
The western lowland gorilla and the eastern lowland gorilla are, respectively, native to West Africa and East-Central Africa. The third sub species - the mountain gorilla - are found only in Uganda and Rwanda.
The mountain gorilla (gorilla beringei beringei) is one of the most endangered animals in the world. Only about 600 survive in two isolated habitats in Uganda, the Virunga Mountains and where we viewed the gorilla's, Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
