Next stop Paris. Anyone have a recent review, recommendation or must do's In the local area? Will arrive September 8. Merci.
As for the local area, two must see places are the Palais Garnier as well as basilique Sacré-Coeur. Also in the area is a nice restaurant, Le Grand Colbert. Good french food and wine. After dinner, head over to Harry's New York Bar. A fun street to stroll is Rue Montorgueil, starting from the top at Rue Réamur. Also, when you leave Sacre Coeur, instead of descending the stairs or using the funiculaire, stroll down some back streets, past Place du Tertre. Get lost! If you like shopping, duck your head into Lafayette Galeries. The massive stained glass ceiling and balconies are worth a look if nothing else. In many of the Paris churches, including la Madeleine, not that la Madeleine is great, but there are often orchestra or quartet or individual concerts for reasonable prices. Just look for the little fliers. Also near la Madeleine are a couple of wonderful restaurants, Terres de Truffes and La Maison de la Truffe, if you like truffles. The amount of sights, attractions and activities, both big and small, that there are to do in Paris at large is utterly endless. These are just a couple of things that you will enjoy within the local vicinity of the hotel. I loved the hotel. They took excellent care of us. I would return in two shakes of a lambs tail. Try to get a suite or executive room with a balcony overlooking boulevard Haussmann.
That is grea stuff. Much appreciated. This is my second trip too Paris so it will be nice to see some of the more off the beaten bath sights . Agiain, thanks
