Elite challenge advice

Several months ago I thought I had registered for the elite status challenge correctly by responding "yes" to the question did I want to be registered that was sent to me by the room monitor. Unfortunately I guess that wasn't enough. As I completed the required number of "stays" for the challenge, I did not get any communication from the insiders room monitor that I thought had registered me. I just found out that my request to be registered was not followed thru and I was not registered.  If you "register" for the challenge,  make sure that Marriott insider confirms that you are registered.  I would hate for this to happen to someone else. Even after I forwarded the email that I sent them to register,  I got no response to my request.
