Renaissance Curacao Resort - Enjoyable Stay - Tight With Platinum Perks

There is much to like about this hotel including a huge salt water pool with a man made beach, a wide variety of restaurants within walking distance, and a beautiful view. Overall the service was good, though getting a check after breakfast was challenging on certain days. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the grounds well maintained. One annoyance was the second hand smoke coming from the casino on the first floor. Since the casino was open to the lobby, smoke could be detected up to the second floor, and even in the workout room. The workout room is large with a full weight rack and two benches, steppers, bikes and treadmills. It doesn't have any natural light, but has sufficient space and equipment.

We stayed for 10 nights on points, and selected a standard room. Most Marriott's upgrade us to a very nice room if space is available. After a lengthy conversation, we did receive a partial water view on a lower floor. Since there is no Concierge Lounge at the hotel, I expected breakfast for us to be included. We were told that a cold breakfast buffet for one person only, would be included. This seemed odd. Later in our trip, we had a service issue, and the front desk staff included breakfast for two as a courtesy.

There is a Starbaucks on the 2nd floor which is very convenient and the restaurant at the beach is a beautiful venue at night. We ate at the resort numerous times, and the food ranged from just fair, to fairly good. The best restaurants we visited in Curacao are about a 15 minute walk from the hotel and include The Wine Cellar, Brasserie Chapter and Ginger - all were excellent. Avoid La Bahia just past the pontoon bridge, it was absolutely terrible! For those who like Scuba, we had a two great dive outings with Divers of the Caribbean, which is in town on the water.

We would come here again, and thought the staff was very friendly and courteous. We also thought the hotel was in good condition and in a great location. We stayed at the Marriott Curacao a few years ago, and liked the beach and hotel, though it's more difficult to walk to town if you stay there.
