New to the forums but old to Marriott. I've been a lifetime Platinum member for several years now. I've been wondering lately how many of us there are. Anybody know how many LPE memberships Marriott has given out?
This is an interesting question, but I would rephrase it - How many LPE memberships have been earned? Those who have it or who are within sight of it have earned it through many nights away from home, or by spending a lot of money and charging it to their Marriott Visa card. I don't view it as having been given away!
I have no idea how many there are but I expect to reach that milestone in about 18 months! I do agree with nhtraveler that this staus is earned. In my case it will be by a combination of charging on my MR cards and by staying close to 40 nights per year for many years. I have been in the program for about 25 years but have been staying with Marriott for almost 50 years.
Perhaps carat could get us a number of members who are Lifetime Platinum..

Getting Started Guide
In regards to your thread, its a great question. I have to agree with nhtraveler. It is a status that is earned and an accomplishment, as it takes a lot of travel and dedication. Unfortunately, I do not believe this is something I'll be able to find out.
I’ve often wondered what the breakdown is of each elite tier. How many silvers, golds, plats & lifetime version of each. I think Marriott believes this is a trade secret , so wouldn’t likely divulge raw numbers.
verysuiteboy, I’ve often wondered about the composition of each status tier as well. I wonder if there is a way we could do this by analyzing the status of those on Insiders...? Ordinarily, I would have thought that Insiders would tilt much more heavily to the top tiers judging by participation on the site. However, with what appears to be the auto-enrollment of new members, perhaps we could take a random sample of new Insider members. This is the stuff of pingreeman‘s and bejacob‘s expertise, however, and you’d need real know-how to approximate the percentages within an acceptable margin of error. Perhaps we can get some advice from our mathematicians as to how best to back into a number.... Thoughts?
nationwide - before the site changed about three years ago, I could have done this analysis, but the way JIVE organizes MRI members now, it is impossible for me to do.
Care to venture an educated guess, out of 100M members?
Wow - tough question, but if I had to guess the current number of LTPs, somewhere around 350,000 of the 100M MR members. Making many educated guesses, I come up with this estimate using the following derivations:
pingreeman...don't forget, Marriott eliminated the need to vest with years in the program a few years back. So, over the last 5 yrs or so, the number of LTPs has probably accelerated dramatically.
Add me to the list. I reached Lifetime Platinum on October!
