This was our first trip to The Big Apple this January. We stayed for 5 days at New York Marriott Downtown. Our check-in went fine & our room was on the 7th floor and quite comfortable. Friday nite we enjoyed a walking canvas of the surrounding area in pleasant weather and decided to dine at the adjoining Bill's Burgers & Bar. Our meal was delicious & we befriended one of the hostesses, who was a former Floridian. The following day the Front Desk was kind enough to hold our luggage until it was time to depart for the Cruise Terminal. Now comes a problem. Taxis are very prevalent on this busy corner and quickly hailed by the Front Doorman. In particular, the "T" taxi company seems to be everywhere. What should have been a twenty minute ride to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal turned out to be a 2 hour catastrophe that had both of our blood pressures racing & almost caused us to forfeit our New England/Canada Cruise. Perhaps this New York Marriott should reconsider their affiliation with the "T" taxis or at least this driver, who's name was Muhammad. We did, however, reach the terminal 8 minutes before 4:00 p.m., just in the nick of time. We will, however, continue to travel and do business with Marriott, just choose another source of ground transportation.
Room Tip: If you are leary of heights, request a room on the lower floors.
