I would like to nominate Amanda (sorry I don't know her last name or initial) at the front desk of the Marriott Riverwalk in San Antonio for a Spirit to Serve award. To celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, my wife and I decided to use some of my Marriott points for a weekend getaway to downtown San Antonio. When we checked in to the Marriott Riverwalk, Amanda at the front desk asked why we were in town. When we told her about our anniversary, she lit up with genuine excitement and enthusiastically congratulated us and made us feel pretty special. About an hour later we had a knock on our door, along with a delivery of complimentary iced-down champagne and chocolate covered strawberries! Along with the champagne was a card with a nice hand-written note from Amanda congratulating us and thanking us for spending our anniversary with the Marriott Riverwalk. We sat on the balcony, sipped champagne, and watched the sun set. It was a memorable moment, made extra special by Amanda's gesture. It's a credit to Marriott that employees are empowered to make gestures such as this to help make guests feel special. Our little weekend getaway became a trip to remember in no small part thanks to this nice touch.
