I'm a Platinum member who takes advantage the moment mobile check-in becomes available thinking that one of these days it will help secure the alleged benefit of the complimentary upgrade. I thought perhaps that it is a first come first served basis, but mobile check-in hasn't shown anything to support that. To be honest, I wonder why I continue to do mobile check-in because it doesn't offer much at the property to jump the line.
Domestically at a Marriott property, I have yet to be offered an upgrade as a Platinum. To be frank, I have no idea if this benefit is really ever offered. Most recently I stayed at the same property over the holidays and it was obvious that it had low occupancy and still never offered the upgrade. I also don't feel that I should have to ask for one. As a valued member, I don't think that I should.
I've never had this issue internationally. Most times internationally they bend over backwards to try and upgrade you.
What am I missing about this "benefit" domestically
