Leaping Lizards

At the UCLA guest house we ate breakfast at a table shared with another couple. They were here in Southern California, visiting their son in Beverly Hills. The son is a Psychiatrist with degrees from both Cal Tech and Stanford. His girlfriend and he occupy a rented house, and they are moving. The parents are there to help him move.

In conversation we asked if the couple have children. No they said, only one animal, a one-eyed lizard. Seems that the lizard, having lost the sight in one eye has no depth perception, and must be hand-fed since it can see but not find its food. Makes for great breakfast conversation. We laughed.

I bring this up for no other reason than to comment that you meet the most fascinating people at breakfast. Often they have the most interesting tales to tell about monocular reptiles.
