Grapes not of Wrath

"To the red country and part of the gray country of Oklahoma, the last rains came gently, and they did not cut the scarred earth," wrote John Steinbeck in Grapes of Wrath, a great book and an excellent movie.


In Napa Valley, far from Oklahoma, the rains came last weekend and we accepted them with grace and thanksgiving.  Mike Grgich, owner of the winery that bears his name in Napa, sent me this photo of a recent budding of the Chardonnay Grape Vines.
