I'm staying at the Manhattan Beach, California Marriott in mid-Februrary, 2014. I have a day or so to spare. I have never been to the L.A. area and someone mentioned I can't leave without visiting Sequoia National Monument or Park for some hiking. Google puts it at a good 4 hours' drive, so 8 hours in the car!
So..... wondering if anyone had stayed in the area and found scenic and beautiful (more local) area trails for a day hike, or should I follow that advice and head out early for a visit?
Thanks for any tips!
