I am planning a vacation in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur - any advice on the Marriott brand hotels in both cities?
I would choose the JW Marriott over the Renaissance. The JW Marriott has far the best service, is luxurious, well maintained, right in the heart of the shopping area, the executive lounge is great and the staff is always attentive.
In Singapore we don't stay in the JW Marriott anymore because we think it's a bit overpriced. The hotel itself is great and the best thing is the location, right on Orchard Road though.
I also would suggest reading hotel reviews on Tripadvisor.com.
I have stayed at the JW Marriott in Kuala Lumpur and it was fantastic. There are lots of food choices and several restaurants onsite. Very close access to the mall across the street. If you want more info, let me know!
I've heard several people rave about the JW Marriott there. clebert?
I was booked at the JW Singapore this fall but changed to the RC because it took less points (strange, huh?). I will let the group know how it goes. I thought about Marina Bay Sands as scubachef suggested, but I wanted to use points. Actually I really wanted to stay at the Raffles but that was going for about $550 a night so out of my price range. The JW in Singapore is newly converted from another hotel that was renovated and rebranded. There's also a Marriott that's on the opposite end of Orchard Road than the JW.
We too would highly recommend the JW Marriott in Kuala Lumpu. We found it marvelous with a great location!
Last year, I got off the reservation and stayed at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. WOW! The infinity pool on the roof was well worth the lack of points,etc... I know it's blasphemy, but something you should check out.
