Baseball as America's Pastime

As a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan - I fondly recall listening to every game possible on the radio at home.

One of the many Cardinals who was a true inspiration was Bob Forsch - the Cardinals pitcher from 1974-1988.

He pitched his first no-hitter on April 16, 1978.  On September 26, 1983 he pitched his second no-hitter.

Retiring in 1989, Forsch died suddenly from an thoracic aortic aneurysm on November 3, 2011 - less than a week after he threw out the ceremonial first pitch before Game seven of the 2011 World Series at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO.
