My biggest baseball memory as kid was meeting Manny Mota of the Dodgers as a neighbor.  It was late 70's and Manny Mota was a pinch hitter for the Dodgers.  He lived in the Dominican Republic, but lived in Los Angeles during the baseball season.  We lived in a middle class neighborhood and one of the houses on the block was for rent.  Manny Mota and his big family rented the house for the season.  I got to play with his children who were of similar age to me.  They were incredible athletes even as children.  I got meet Manny on several occasions at their rented house.  I was quite a trill to be able meet him and play with his kids.
