I moved to Georgia from a market without a Major League team at the ripe age of 6. It was Fall of the strike year, so there was no baseball. When baseball started again in the Spring, I quickly became a Braves fan and started following their rookie third baseman, Chipper Jones, as my favorite player. He narrowly missed being Rookie of the Year that year but helped to lead the team to a World Series title. For the rest of his career, Chipper was my favorite player. Only a week into the season, it is already strange seeing the Braves play without him. I can't wait to see his Hall of Fame induction in five years!
