My husband I went to a professional baseball game in Japan a few years ago. The man in the seat next to us really wanted to explain to us that the person throwing out the first pitch was the winningest pitcher in Japan baseball history. We did not know the pitcher of course, but his comment helped us to understand the ovation. During the game, my husband ordered a beer from a young woman who was carrying a small keg of beer on her back. Seeing her pour draught beer from that contraption made him know he was not in America but, at the same time, it reminded us of the universality of baseball.
