IN 1974 I cut school to see the Mets play the Pirates at Shea stadium.  In the first inning Willie Stargell swung and missed a fast ball thrown by Tom Seaver.  But the bat flew out of his hands and landed in my lap.  Stargell came into the stands by the first base dugout and wanted to swap bats.  Everyone said no but I did it anyway.  Well the next pitch thrown was sent over the center field fence.  Two old guys threw beers at me.  But that's ok because the bats still hangs on the wall in my den
