scrambling for home runs

I remember one of my first baseball game experiences, going to a home game for the San Francisco giants as just an 8 year old kid.  I didn't think I'd be able to catch a ball if one came my way, but I desperately wanted one anyways, so I was going to try whatever I could to get one.  When a big 6th inning homerun was pounded into the stands, for some reason it hit an area of the stands that was blocked off from everybody else and empty of people.  That precious ball was just sitting there, everybody was cheering, but nobody was getting the actual ball!  So while the home run hitter was scrambling around the bases, I scrambled over the bars and raced for my prize.  Who needs to actually catch a ball when they clear out an entire section just for you!
