My brothers and I growing up were obsessed with baseball cards. Topps, Score, Fleer, Donruss, Upper Deck we tried to collect them all. The cards represented players that were larger than life. Our greatest achievements were completing the 1988 Fleer baseball card collection, and stumbling upon a Mark McGuire Topps rookie card. Their stats were our first introduction to mathematics, and Beckett Baseball Card Monthly our most coveted reading. Now they are more or less worthless cardboard, but still hold cherished memories for me.
