Strolled the Carmel beach again today just after dawn and saw this beautifully maintained 1948 Buick convertible, top down, with a nice fellow and his Australian Shepard riding shotgun. It's a Buick 8 and he's owned it since the 1950's and of course had it totally restored, including the original paint. According to the Haggerty Classic Car valuation it's worth about $36,000, but to the owner it's priceless.
I was amazed at the steel sheet metal on this car--most new cars (like that Lexus SUV in front of it) are plastic or aluminum clad. Oh for those good old days!
