For golfers, summertime is a double-edged sword. On one hand, the temperatures in some of the top golfing destinations can be unbearable, while on the other hand, putting up with the heat and humidity can mean big savings and fewer crowds (and perhaps much earlier tee times). Whether you’re looking to beat the heat or save some green on your greens fees, you’ve got plenty of options.

To avoid the heat, members quetouring and jrenjoy like Michigan for “excellent golf with breathtaking views.” California tops the list for many members, including golftraveler, rlasorsa, golfingmaniac, stemcell and steppingstones, who recommends the “Mediterranean climate” and recently upgraded courses. Marriott Vacation clubbers will find pleasant golfing conditions in Colorado, between Vail and Eagle, says up4golf, while ri18ri recommends Atlantic City, where “the breeze off the ocean keeps it cool.” In Park City, eaglegolfer recommends three courses, all within 30 minutes of two Vacation Club properties.

If soaring temperatures don’t faze you, you can often get good deals during the summer months in warm-weather destinations. Members starknight44 and elitepro recommend Scottsdale’s JW Marriott Desert Ridge and its “two beautiful courses,” plus a number of others in the area. In Florida, you’ll find the Faldo Institute at Orlando’s Grande Vista, giving you the chance to work on your game and still take the kids to nearby SeaWorld and Disney World. Member deac81 likes The Ritz-Carlton properties in Amelia Island and Naples, which both offer great golf and opportunities for fun with the family. For a true golfer’s getaway, hit all the courses on Alabama’s Robert Trent Jones Trail of Golf, which tops many members’ lists, including up4golf, holligolightly and wheels, who sums up the experience in one word: “awesome.”

To combine golf with some fun in the sun, both Aruba and Hawaii get top grades from members, including errolg, susieq, golfguy and sapadz51.
