Cahokia Mounds, outside of St. Louis!

Not far from the FF in Collinsville, Il, just East of St. Louis, is a great place to take your family.  It's free and most fascinating, here is why:

 

As the largest prehistoric Indian site North of Mexico, Cahokia Mounds covered 4000 acres and included 120 mounds.  The site was named a U.S. Historical Landmark,  At one time, it had more people in it than London and is a most interesting place to spend an hour or two.  You may want to bring a picnic basket and enjoy the park like setting.  Here are a few pictures:
