OK MRI - let your voices or lack thereof be heard! Any suggestions for additional categories will be honored as long as they are more reasonable than the current last choice! Tip of the hat to bejacob in advance since I bet he may have a graph already made up for us. IF so, please post here!
I was torn between under 50 and ask bejacob lol
Couldn't a mod provide this insight more accurately?
seachi - They could, but would it be a wise marketing move to expose a low #? carat andrewt other CM's? You are probably not supposed to vote in the polls, but seachi does have a point - you could just tell us
This number is constantly changing, so we really can't pinpoint a given number, but we're certainly interested to see what the Insiders community thinks!
can you at least give a range. I doubt it fluctuates from 75 - 500 for example - more like an average over last year (historical data is available I assume)??
Since there are about 20 who go over 100 in any given month, I would guess that 50 to 100 would be running over 20 each month. At present, I have 88 credits for July and that puts me at 21st most active with 3 days left in the month.
Ask bejacob, I cant understand why anyone would vote any other way
I think profhill probably downloaded the entire website and has the exact # in his secret lair - but that's just one man's opinion running on too little sleep and too many hours staring at screens.
If just 29 more vote and that's the end of it - we can say we're getting an interesting correlation but probably nothing more.
20 posts a month is quite a few. I would think less than ten discounting mods maybe closer to zero. 20 is almost one a day, I don't think anyone does that. If you are talking participation through replies, answering polls etc, then the number would be around 50 from my observation
All of the top posters post more than 20 a month. And by top I mean at least the top 20 posters.
Dan, I just don't see it. What data are you using to arrive at "All of the top posters post more than 20 a month" Do you consider yourself a top poster? If so how many posts have you made this year?
I have access to the database and I'm doing nothing illegal and not an employee - anyhow it doesn't really matter. As long as the frequent posters (of any definition) are satisfied with the site and # of posters, it's moot.
I didn't accuse you of doing anything illegal, I was just trying to understand your post, which in this case is a poll.
and I just gave you facts - there is nothing accusatory in my post either so we are both happy campers Sorry for any potential confusion - I like to help - really
Yep we are Dan.
So with 31 poll participants, it looks obvious what those 31 think, wouldn't you agree? Not sure that means anything since it's such a small sample size, but it is a sample mostly of frequent posters, so it's at least semi-relevant. I officially draw zero conclusions from this poll. Anyone else is free to make more assumptions than I'm willing to make or at least discuss
I dont think there are 50 regular posters on this site, as you've defined regular (20 posts per month - 4 or 5 a week) which I think is a good definition...
So is this a "fun" place for the 20 active and countless 1 and done and lurkers? Evidently many think so. But is it serving Marriott's mission? I've signed up for a Jive account to see how this is supposed to impact my brand. I'd certainly want more than 20 active posters /regular posters considering how many years the site has been alive. I believe the Tipple will have nearly as many attendees as there are active posters in my survey or brightlybob 's assessment. What say you MRI members?
BY the looks of pingreemans analysis, dansplan your estimate of 20 actives could be about right and about 1/2 of them will be at TIPPLE...
I may have to start TippleAfterParty.com and expect it might be a bigger hit...time will tell
Say there brightlybob Is there anyway you can keep this thread alive by ensuring that everyone at the Tipple at least participated? The admins have now set the community reports to admin only access (or so it seems) so this type of feedback among ourselves seems to me to be invaluable.
In your spare time while looking for answers as to our Insider question like:
Might you be able to find the time to figure out why polls/threads such as this which have had NO activity for a couple of years just show up on the "Big Board" as our dear friend erc calls it?? What is the key to this happening and the key to having it NOT happen and even better question?
Thanks in advance and I'll alert the "Appropriate Team"!!
Time for planning where lunch and an early start to Happy Hour will be today.
LOL I was like what's Dan's old poll doing.
This list is soooo funny!
So funny AND so true!!
erc-o-meter set off by my good pal IAH
Poor IAH - between sign in issues, unanswered questions, crickets serenading you and mysterious polls popping up, you're feeling like good ol' Archie Bunker Archie Bunker - Russian Roulette - YouTube
Not that A) you really want to know, or B) things will actually change; but long, dead, inactive Polls spring back to life when someone cruising through the Archives says, "hey, that's interesting I think I'll vote" and that's all it takes - one vote (similar to the way Helpfuls jam up the All Activity thread) on a poll moves it to the top of the list.
Now that you have let on that it bugs you, folks might vote to give you a rise.
just called me at home and informed me that 702rugbyref was the most recent voter.
Have a nice day, if you can even sign in again .
Ahhh, but you are wrong Ortho breath. Doesn't bug only raises more questions and you know I've got lots of those!!!
Hey man. I'm just a peace lovin' guy back from a van road trip to the beach.
It's all good, my next trip this weekend is to the Singer Island Marriott in Palm Beach, Fl. to catch some spring training games ('Stros and Nats Tuesday). I'm not even going to allow the fact that my 'free' two BR condo (through a payment-in-kind deal) costs me $62 a night courtesy of the Marriott boys charging me $35 for the joy of staying at a 'resort' and $27 to use their parking lot.
But hey, at least they still have my reservation (I think)
Thanks for the tag and for acknowledging some of what we do here! ☺
The reason polls show up is because a member recently cast a vote or commented, so any activity on old threads will bring it back to most recent activity. We have looked into different ways to modify this, but have not found a feasible way to change certain parts of the site organization like this without losing the parts that work. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes when looking at the activity board.
Enjoy the day,
Here is a great way to stop polls.....if the poll has no end date which shouldn't be allowed to even be created, then come up with a MAX time limit like 60 days or so, so where it disappears completely from the site.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Enjoy the day.
iahflyr my apologies in advance - but, this image came to mind
Hard working, conscientious Whitney The Appropriate Team
Aah, isn't that sweet - IAH has a suggestion Hey guys, will you implement IAH's idea? I'll pass it along to The Appropriate Team
Why did this remind me of a united survey?
No apology required, perfect!
This makes me sad! Truth is sad
