What are your favorite July 4th foods when enjoying the holiday with family and friends?
After steamed oysters as starters, grilled or smoked salmon, snapper, or other grill-able fish, served with grilled veggies and slaw. And lots of Terrapin Golden or Bell's Two-hearted Ale to beat the heat.
nathan's hot dogs. go joey chesnut
I'm loving the foxglove menu for the 4th. You won't mind if I copy it and pass along to the neighbors who are hosting our yearly gathering do ya? I actually am smoking a Salmon along with a whole Chicken while the Ribs will sllllllllooooooooooooooow cook on the grill getting sauced often.
iahflyr Before our trip to New Bern, we'd spent the last month or so eating practically everything in our freezer so that we'd be able to freeze whatever we brought home from the coast (calculated binge purchasing). On our last afternoon there, we took a 70-qt cooler to B & J Seafood, which was only a couple of miles from the SHS, and loaded up on fresh seafood: a couple large, dressed sheepsheads; a couple dressed red drums; a single, dressed king mackerel cut into steaks; four lbs.red snapper fillets; four lbs. black drum fillets; three lbs. flounder fillets; three lbs. pan-dressed small whiting; and three lbs. pan-dressed spot. We told 'em that we had a long drive the next day, so please ice it thoroughly -- and, man, did they ever. By the time we got home, the bottom two layers were already semi-frozen. Some of the snapper fillets are joining us at some friends' July 4th celebration.
You dog and I don't mean GA Bulldog either.
What a haul you guys made, and Snapper for the 4th is pretty tough to beat. Just don't forget to think about your friends out west and hoist a tall one for us as I will you, but mine will be a clear liquid with some cranberry juice and lime as a garnish.
