Hi there all,
New to this site and just wondering what the variance in Elite status is?
Some are Lifetime Platinums or Gold depending on a few different criteria.
And welcome to Insiders, hope you enjoy your time and get to know some of us folks.
I'm well aware of Marriott Rewards as a programme, just wondering the variance and what elite status members think of it, as I continue to take part in it.
As of 04/12/2013, there are 39424 MRI accounts.
what's the difference between Platinum and Platinum Premier? owning one of the Credit Cards?
Lifetime platinum here
PP and also lifetime Platinum
Some of us are lifetime platinum premiers
And that is achieved how?
Platinum (since 2007) and may loose it this year as just short
I was PP for one year and didn't experience anything any better. I don't know that the hotel even realised!
We hope they are forgiving based on that loyalty and will renew you.
I, also, hope your loyalty will be rewarded and you maintain your status this year.
I was fortunate as they renewed my PE status even though I was well short. However, I've been PE for the past two years, but I am very thankful. It's a great program. My wife and I use it often.
My wife and I are platinum and really see no benefit at all. We've NEVER been offered an upgrade and the "lounge" breakfast isn't much. Daily newspaper for a platinum, fuggetaboutit! We've gotten off of the Marriott bandwagon and have started to wind down our participation. Other hotel chains offer much more meaningful rewards for loyalty.
I've had a much different experience. I've been upgraded to a suite quite regularly (although most times I usually have to ask,) and have received special attention no matter where I've stayed. It's been an excellent program for me and my wife. I also use the Marriott VISA for most purchases so I also get a decent amount of points each month. We use them for free nights when on vacation. So free nights and larger rooms; Not bad.
I actually gave up my United VISA as I was getting much more value from Marriott. United had blackout dates, etc, and it kept getting more challenging trying to find a flight for points. Not so with Marriott. (Nope, I'm not a shill, just a very satisfied customer.)
Thanks for posting mroldtimer. We have had similar experiences with Marriott properties.
Last I checked on it, I was told that you achieve lifetime platinum "after" you have stayed at least 750 nights and earned at least 3M points. But I imagine there is a certain degree of subjectivity somewhere, just as apparently there is for Platinum Premier. Good luck!
I am looking to find out that difference koolinamike I hope to find the answers in the booklet I will get in a few days. My first guess is that we will have an even greater likelyhood of getting upgrades. I hope there is a more marked difference. We shall see. Enjoy!
Such as which hotel chains gotcha3 ?
I am actually really interested. I am not trying to be contrary.
I am always open to what is hot and better out there. I am also Diamond with Hilton and I can tell you that Marriott is much better. But I would love to know what else is better than Marriott. Thanks in advance for the reply.
PE is 750 nights and 2M points.
Have attained (per Rewards office) that I have attained Platinum for Life.
This was verbal confirmation. Official notification might not arrive for years until a period arrives where I do not qualify for regular PE
What's wrong with the picture?
have no idea how my avatar got changed???
misterchk - You should get a MR gray card that indicates you are PLATINUM ELITE LIFETIME with your name and Rewards Number on it. The back of the card has all kind of telephone numbers. I'm looking at the one I got some years ago.
Forgot to congratulate you. Congratulations.
