Last week I posted about Traveling to Toronto with a friend. In Part 1 of my blog I discussed my experience on a great new Canadian Airline called Porter Airlines. My friend and I stayed at the Marriott Eaton Centre in Downtown Toronto. It was an excellent stay and I highly recommend this property if your thinking about visiting the area. Check out my review of the hotel which includes pictures here: http://www.rewards-insiders.marriott.com/reviews/31512
This was my fourth trip to Toronto. My last previous visit was 10 years ago. While there we got to witness Toronto's first snowfall of the season which was pretty cool. However the winter's in Toronto can be really cold and I actually recommend visiting the city in the spring, summer, or early fall. I did capture a video of the first snowfall looking out at Trinity Square from my hotel room.
Next Door to our hotel was the Eaton Centre Shopping Mall which is the largest mall in Toronto and has approximately 230 stores. There are lots of interesting stores and restaurants here. Here are a couple of photos that I took inside the mall.
When visiting Toronto you definitely want to check out Yonge Street which was once listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the "longest street in the world". You will find everything from Theaters with Broadway like shows, Stores, Restaurants, and Clubs. If your interested in checking out a show while in Toronto you should visit this website: http://www.toronto-theatre.com/ Here are a couple of pics I took one night at Yonge Street & Dundas Square.
One of the most interesting things to see in Toronto is Casa Loma which is a 95 room castle that took 300 men nearly three years to build beginning in 1911. The castle originally belonged to Sir Henry Pellatt and his wife Lady Pellat who lived there for less than 10 years after financial misfortune in the stock market crash of 1929 forced them to abandon their castle home. At the castle you will find some secret passageways and an underground tunnel which leads to stables, a garage, and potting shed. If your feeling brave enough to climb to the top of a long spiral staircase you will find some excellent views of downtown Toronto from one of Castle's towers. Here are a few pics from Casa Loma.
One of the most popular attractions to see in Toronto is the CN Tower which is the largest free-standing structure in the western hemisphere. Unfortunately we did not have time to visit the tower on this trip but I do have a couple photos from a previous visit that I'll share. The second one is part of the glass floor looking down from the top of the tower.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog. If you ever make it to Toronto take the time to enjoy the sites! o
