We recently stayed at the Marriott Hollywood beach resort in Florida. We had reservations at the Pompano Beach property but upon hearing that Hollywood had a boardwalk we changed our reservation. I booked a standard room and called ahead to see if they would give us an upgrade. I was told, "yes, for sure, I will upgrade you to a Partial Ocean View; not sure about Ocean View but if it is available we will do it".
After we arrived and surveyed the property, I realized that just about all the room are partial ocean view and they all have balconies. The hotel used to be a Howard Johnsons and Marriott took it over about 10 years ago. Out of all their rooms, only 16 are ocean view. The hotel is very narrow and only has one corridor for the guest rooms. Our room was on a high floor with a partial ocean view and right over the kitchen ventilation system. It was noisy and smelly. When I complained I was offered a room on the 4th floor but was eventually offered another room on the 8th floor away from the ventilation. The boardwalk was nice but the majority of properties on the Boardwalk are very old, in disrepair or getting renovated; nothing to see.
I thought I would share this information so others may know
