Musings from the Gateway

It's 5:30. The M Club Lounge is open for evening offerings. Alas, I think I'll enjoy my off-site purchased adult beverage and wait for the mad rush to subside before heading that way.

I've been on the road for 3 weeks - both vacation and work. The vacation one nighter at the Orlando Lakeside was nice. My SNA was denied however I saw via that app that I was upgraded to a hospitality suite on the top floor where the concierge lounge was located. We spent less than 10 hours on the property. Gentleman at checkin (Matthew) was nice. Gave us water. Never mentioned status or welcomed us. Gave us water which is always good. The only complaint was the shuttle taking a while to pick us up/drop us off. Shuttles overall are not time efficient EVER so I should have jknown better and just ubered over and gotten an extra half an hours sleep. But I digress.

Next up was the Sheraton Atlantic City. I was there for a conference that had a 2 night rate. I stayed a 3rd night. This proved problematic. I tried at Check In to get keyed for all 3 nights. I was assured it would work and I didn't have to change rooms. Not true. Plus - I was on a low floor next to the elevators. Keys wouldn't get me to the lounge on the top floor. Get rekeyed. After 2 nights - room not cleaned. Then keys don't work. Anyway - at check out, I was compensated by not paying for parking and getting 500 points for the room not being cleaned.  The one bright spot was breakfast in the cafe and not the lounge. I'm certain this was better. The buffet was more than what I needed to get the day going. Note - they did have me on the concierge floor for the last night but I didn't want to move. They said they were fully booked when I checked in. There was a car wash convention going on. Who knew!

Now here I am on a 3 day 2 night stay at the Crystal City Gateway Marriott. I've been here since the M Club moved to the ground floor which is a plus. Its better than the Crystal City Marriott. I did use the Bonvoy Elite line for check in (I rarely do because I think it's supposed to be FiFo) but due to configuration I used it. Nice young man. Recognized as Titanium. Water offered. He was training a young lady who looked like a deer in the headlights. Poor thing!

It's a great hotel. I just hate being on this side of the river. Much prefer the district. That said, the room I'm in is nicely refreshed. Quiet. And the Pentagon City Mall beckons.

I miss my peeps at the Renaissance 999 9th Street! Just can't get in there at Gov't rate these days. :-(

Back t o back to back trips ahead so more musings to come. Cheers folks!
