I’ve been a Marriott Elite (now Bonvoy) member for decades. For 2019 I earned Titanium status. I stay at a Marriott property at least 4 times a month through company business. I have been informed that on December 31, 2019 I will lose my elite status entirely. The reason being is my Marriott stays are direct billed to my company. I was told since I do not use my personal Bonvoy Visa card to book my stays, none of my nights I spend at any Marriott or Sheraton property is valid. So, I regrettably will cancel my Bonvoy Visa credit card on January 1st. It’s ironic I’ll be staying at the JW Marriott Juhu in Bombay, India 4 nights in January and receive no credit for nights stayed.  It’s upsetting that I must say goodbye to Marriott.  Marriott has always met or exceeded my expectations but that ends this month. I can never recommend Marriott or Bonvoy to any of my friends or co-workers. I suggest if you are a Chase customer, switch to a card that will never let you down such as the Costco Visa card.
