What is this year's platinum customer service number? I have been on hold with general customer service number for 19 minutes so far -- ugh!!
Since IAHFLYR, trippin', pluto77, and a few others have been having sporadic aviation discussions in threads that have nothing to do with aviation, I thought I'd at least steer those discussions into it's own discussion thread. communitymanager, perhaps we can start an aviation enthusiast group? In the mean time, this will be our home for all… Show more
UNITED AIRLINES STAR WARS PLANE! By pure luck, we happened to get the opportunity to fly on United’s newly-painted Star Wars livery aircraft, tail number N36272! It entered scheduled revenue service on 07Nov, and by the time we hopped aboard to MSY on 10Nov, it was only this aircraft’s 10th revenue flight with the paint job.…
This is essentially a follow-up to my blog 2018: Final Year of SPG as We Know It! Last year represented “The Year of the Merge”. This year represents “The Year of Hope”, only because I’m hopeful that Marriott will do whatever it takes to improve service levels across the spectrum. Elites are leaving in droves, exploring other brands or… Show more

As the weather grows colder and the days shorter in the northern hemisphere, signs of the year-end holidays are upon us. Christmas decorations are in every store, seasonal "now hiring" signs are up, and pumpkin spice is on every coffee shop menu. Will you be home for the holidays or are you heading to see family or to visit somewhere warm? … Show more
Well, I was going to post my comments on the discussion started by brightlybob, but that was not possible at the time I created this thread. The entire discussion was unavailable. Happily it has now returned. Part II of Fall 2019 Megabonus revealed In any case, here are the details of my Unlock More promotion. Offer unlocked: Now complete… Show more
... and destination fees, facility fees, location fees and the multitudinous deceptive names hoteliers apply to these mandatory “top up” room rates of up to $95 per night. It’ll take years to make its way to a final judicial decision no doubt as I’m sure Marriott will defend this odious practice with the same unseemly vigour it displayed to… Show more
Sorry to say, I no longer care whether I stay at Marriott or otherwise. The Bonvoy program is a poorly administered joke. I am Lifetime Titanium, and for that you get very little, and even that is inconsistently provided. I can't tell you how many times I needed to follow up for points, never get any room upgrade of any significance, the… Show more
We’re all familiar with lies, damn lies, and statistics. Well Pizza in Motion highlights this whopper from Marriott CEO Arne Sorenson during the chain’s earnings call: In a recent survey of Bonvoy members by an eight to one margin. Respondent said, they preferred the new Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program over either Marriott Rewards or SPG. No one I… Show more
Yeah, mostly. I would say probably 90% - 10%. I have young kids, though, so that will change in a few more years as well. Right now I probably only put about 5 or 10 nights in Marriott rooms that are not work related. Holidays to visit family and maybe a 4 day driving-distance trip with my wife and kids per year. Family travel in the future…
I've been lifetime status for many yrs. and I've always gotten room credit and my room nights for up to 3 rooms pending the rooms are in my name. So for example, if I was traveling with my team. I would book each team member in their own room in lieu of doubling up people. However I've notice this yr. when I book multiple room I only get the… Show more
One way around this is to stay in a hotel where there are 2 hotels in the same building. I Just stayed in at the Residence Inn in LA that has a Courtyard in half of the building. We stayed 3 nights in 2 rooms and got 6 nights. It will likely only work for two rooms (one in each hotel). The building is split vertically, so every floor is half…
