Has the Coronavirus affected your travel? or will it affect your upcoming travel?
Update. Apparently, the civic leaders had a change of heart and have closed all the public beaches as of today or tomorrow in many of the counties from Venice Florida to the Tampa area. I hope this helps . The place I am staying in is right on the beach. Whenever we have sat out on the beach, there have not been many (about a quarter of mile long and I would say less than 100 beach goers) and all have been spaced quite far apart (other than the small parties that are sitting together). Not sure how these beach closings will or will not affect my ability to go onto the beach,. I will let you know and may have to reconsider our options.
If we decide to leave early to head home, I do not think it will be a traffic problem. Normally, when the end of March comes around, getting out of this state is a challenge. I do not think it will be an issue this time and, certainly, it will not be problem (right now) to make it back to the
Boston area (Imagine I would relish traffic nightmares as it would mean things are getting back to normal).
UPDATE: I was finally instructed to return home and telework until further notice. When I left the Courtyard Tinton Falls (NJ) they only had 7 of 120 rooms sold and were basically shut down (Bistro and business center closed). Most of the staff had been furloughed.
I decided to drive back to Florida instead of flying. I stayed that the Courtyard Lake Buena Vista across from Disney. Out of 320 rooms, they only had 10 sold and everything there was shut down too.
While it's nice to be home, I'm looking forward to getting back on the road so we can help get the economy going again.
Be safe... a nice drive from NJ to Florida?! Wow... bet the streets were empty.. I chose safety and health over the economy for now..too much unkown with this Virus..
Everything was cancelled ,15 stays
We are supposed to be joining Queen Elizabeth in Sydney on May 9th to cruise ending up in Vancouver on 3 June. There is no way that I can see that happening. Linda has become paranoid about this virus and she will not let me out of the house, except to walk the dogs, because I am older than her(1 year)!!!
Now ,in the last week, having sorted the garden and cut the grass, spring cleaned the house, read 2 books and caught up with my paperwork , I am running out of things to do!. Yesterday, after more doom and gloom, I decided to try to cheer the place up and reconnected the Christmas lights that I have around my back garden! It looked so much brighter and cheerful last night that I think today I will put up the front ones as well. All of them are led bulbs and use next to no power( far less than my solar panels generate) so I don't fell guilty about doing it and it made the place look much more cheerful.
After that I am stumped for things to do. The weather here in the UK has been beautiful for the last week and I have been able to spend time in the garden but this is about to end for a little while, so it looks like it will be back to the cleaning and starting a new book! Stay safe everyone!
Build a plunge pool?
I usually have about 10 reservations. Today, I have 1 and sadly will probably have to cancel that. So, I think it has effected my travel. On a positive note, the garage might get cleaned.
I'm sitting on nine reservations of which I can see the first one the middle of April getting cancelled a few days prior. Had 10 this morning until a concert downtown was postponed.
I canceled my reservations through mid-June. That gives me 3 months, but I’m not counting on it...
Garden not big enough, besides which I would never get my poodle and cocker spaniel out of it!
The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage just cancelled on me. No Marriott stays in the future now. One flight to Oshkosh in July but I imagine that will slip away too. may we not live in interesting times
