No annual fee, but only 3x points per $1. Maybe they will roll out a business version to match the current 6x Boundless has. And Boundless is still available. Not sure if $95/year would justify the 50% reduction in points earnings.
They can't roll out a Business version, unless AMEX did it - AMEX has the business card contract now & Chase can only issue consumer cards. If you had the Chase Business version of the card before and kept it open, then it earns 6x - basically the same as the AMEX Business categories (but slightly different on the 4x categories).
Ah, thank you for the explanation. I did not realize only one issuer would have business card contract. I did have the Business card but switched to the consumer one when it first came out a few years back. I was hoping to switch back and make more points :-) Unfortunately, the Amex business version that came out earlier this year was underwhelming.
Ya. I saw that they rolled out a new credit card. I can imagine this one has its place, but I'm guessing it probably doesn't make sense for most people on this forum. If you make just one Marriott stay per year, you'd likely be better off paying the $95 annual fee for a 35K certificate and twice the point earning.
BOLD might be more of an entry card for college/high school students to establish credit while getting some benefit; Marriott can try to hook em early, then when the student becomes part of the workforce & has real disposable income, they can upgrade the card (as well as spend some of their built-up points)
Any Insider pick up this card? I'm assuming not, as I'd guess most Insiders already have a Marriott card and aren't eligible according to the new "rules".
