It's Monday and time for a new room photo.
Hmm, not a lot of clues here.
Can you name the brand?
Look for the answer on Friday afternoon.
Ok, it’s Monday, I haven’t slept well in days, but per tradition I am going to take a first shot. This looks like a Fairfield Inn to me. I’ve stayed in this room many times before (I think), but where the heck is it? Who knows! Just happy to play along. As always, I reserve the right to change my mind as others weigh in. Happy week all!
Is it me or is that room in serious need of an upgrade ?
CY. Old one
Absolutely a CY.
I'm asking for double points this week since I forgot to answer last week My answer for this week is CY. My answer is based on that god-awful couch fabric.
I have to say Courtyard. For many reason, but the Rio Copacabana Beach/Portuguese Walk art gives it away for me.
Haha - I know have that song Copacabana in my head. "at the copa...copacabana..."
Thanks austinguy. I wasn't singing it before, but now I am. Ear worm of the day prize goes to you.
Oh man, my first thought was Fairfield, but the green trim on the pillow and a couch in a fairly small room makes me say Courtyard as my final answer.
I really enjoy all the detective work. Analysis of the artwork, furniture, carpets, menus or pens (when spotted) all go into the calculations. It does show that sometimes there is not that much separating one brand from another.
An old CY
I’d say it’s an old style CY. Fairfields usually have blue carpet
Fairfield Inn - old property.
Looks like the Summerlin Las Vegas CY I stayed in a few years ago.
CY. Green top pen.
Ah BEJ has 50 of those green top pens in his brief case, I have not bought a ballpoint since I became a Marrioteer, I think he is messing with us. He probably carries around one of those courtyard pillows just to make it look like that. We got an easy one on week 7 but the carpet the size of the room just does not add up, or does it. It could be in Europe, but there are only a half dozen courtyards in Europe. I still see this too close to call. Time to reflect.
That would rather devious of me, placing pens from other brands on the night stand. That gives me an evil idea.
No, the pictures posted are the rooms exactly as they appear when I first arrive. No modification or obfuscation on my part. Even without doing anything, it can be a challenge to identify the brand.
Knowing you, there will be a Hilton slipped into one of these weekly posts.
Anyone else want to put in a guess for this week. I promise I won't make you wait until August 1 for the answer.
I'll post it tomorrow afternoon (Friday, June 29th in case anyone ends up reading this comment sometime after midnight on Thursday).
Out of time to think, so Courtyard.
Oh brightlybob. I notice you haven't ventured a guess yet this week. I'm sure your attention is focused elsewhere now that The new Redemption table is here.
A timely reminder there, thanks!
When I first saw this I thought Courtyard, very similar to one I stated at a few years ago at Prague Airport. It was brand new then but it hasn’t aged well if that’s the one. Luckily I don’t have to speculate about location, just brand, so nipping in just as the portcullis slams shut with “Courtyard” - Final answer!
For those who correctly identified the brand as Courtyard, well done!
This is the Courtyard Marriott | Wausau in north-central Wisconsin. Certainly not an exciting property or location, though this room does have a balcony. I fact, I think I might have been standing just outside the sliding glass door when I snapped that photograph.
I'll post Name that Room - Week 9 on Monday. I don't know how many more weeks I've got in me. Maybe we can continue this throughout the summer. Much longer than that and I'll have to start repeating brands. Hmm... there's an idea.
