If you don't stay any nights in one year, do you automatically drop down to the next level (e.g platinum to gold) or lose your status completely?
You would drop to "Member" status unless you have some trigger that would award you Silver, Gold, or Platinum; e.g. United Gold or higher status still gets you Marriott Gold; Marriott VISA CC normally gets you Silver; etc. Many ways to stay Elite, if you qualify.Continue to Fly and Enjoy More with RewardsPlus in 2018. However, sometimes (case by case) Marriott will re-award an elite status to someone with good cause as a sign of loyalty. Those are rare and normally require the member to interact with Customer Support. communitymanagers did I misstate anything?
Marriott offers what they call a "soft landing." A member will drop no more than one level each year, even without any stays. A Platinum member would drop to Gold, Gold to Silver, etc.
Thank Bejacob. I thought the softlanding was dead now. Good to know.
