I love this hotel.  (Last time I was here, it was being renovated, but it's still wonderful).  It's gorgeous, plus they get all the little things right:

  • Wonderful upgraded room with huge balcony.  (Some insiders say the balcony on the other side, with the view of the pier (photo of the pier, below), is even better.  And there's a HUGE suite with a monster balcony next door to me).
  • No lounge, but a generous breakfast voucher for the terrific Cezanne restaurant - their home-made granola is killer, with yogurt and fresh berries and agave nectar - wow!  See photo below of view of the ocean from the outdoor portion of the restaurant.
  • Wall Street Journal AND USA Today (good sports section) at my door in a slick leather portfolio each morning
  • Cheerfully greeted as a Platinum
  • Huge, comfy bed
  • Nice robe and slippers
  • Mouthwash (I wish all hotels did this - who travels with mouthwash?)
  • Two types of water/lemonade/fruit punches in the lobby at all times.
  • Oh, and I forgot - it was cheaper than the LAX Renaissance (which I also highly recommend), but I don't think that's always (or often) the case...
  • What's not to like?
