Marriott Ventura Beach Ripped off

I booked a night stay at Marriott Ventura Beach because it sleeps 5.  When I checked in after landing at LAX late, the room that sleeps five was no longer available.  I pointed out that as Marriott Gold member, we are guaranteed our room type, even with late check in.  The check in desk argued that we only booked two double beds and that was all they needed to honor.  They acknowledged that they have those  rooms sleep 5 because it has 2 double beds and a rollaway, which was what I booked. However, due to us checking in late, there was no rollaway available because the rollaway beds  were first-come-first-serve.

What is my option at this point?  We have a family with three kids, thus I always make a point of only booking at Marriott that sleeps five, but if this is not honored at check in, is it worth keeping Marriott membership?
