Overbooked at the Envoy

Worst experience ever! I actually never write reviews or complain but am making a special consideration for this place. Reserved a room for a friend’s birthday weekend because it was local to everywhere we were going. When we arrived at 4pm, which is check in time, I was informed that the they overbooked and they had to set us up at a different hotel. Though they claimed to call every hotel nearby, and all were full, we ended up at a hotel across the other side of the city. Clearly they only called places they had affiliations with as opposed to trying to get us a room close by. Though i understand how hotels and airlines book their reservations, and over book with the hopes that some people don’t show up, this was totally unacceptable. The staff clearly had enough time to call other hotels and write out letters for each overbooked guest but did not have the decency to call us beforehand to tell us that we had been overbooked and moved to another hotel across the city. This would have saved us at least 45 minutes upon arrival so that we could have made other arrangements and had enough time to make the birthday party. Because of this we missed the booze cruise part of the birthday party and my wife had to get ready in a public restroom because the room at the other hotel was unavailable when we arrived. All in all, the worst experience ever and would never consider giving them my business again! As a rewards member, I would have expected some level of consideration but that was clearly not the case.
